Strategic Consultation with the Netherlands Coastguard

We can learn a lot from our northern neighbours. Flanders and the Netherlands benefit from close cooperation and the exchange of knowledge. That is why a delegation from the Belgian Coast Guard paid a working visit to the Netherlands Coastguard in Den Helder.

The visit provided an opportunity to gain a better understanding of each other’s operations and to discuss current topics such as the increasing activity at sea and maritime safety. To further strengthen our collaboration, we aim to organise more joint exercises in the future.

The first test already took place during the visit, with a joint towing exercise in which our vessel Sirius participated. Our delegation also gained insight into the operational work floor, where we could follow live footage captured by the Dutch coastguard aircraft.

New plans were forged as well: in the future, we are planning a towing exercise involving a large seagoing vessel.
