Seminar on Sand Extraction - 17 October 2011

The Continental Shelf Service of the FPS for the Economy holds its triennial seminar on the 17th of October 2011. The Continental Shelf Service is responsible for ensuring a sustainable exploitation of mineral resources of the Belgian Continental Shelf.

Sand Extraction

After a synthesis of the monitoring results, a number of international directives and their effect on monitoring and sand extraction will be clarified. The 'Geïntegreerd Kustveiligheidsplan (Integrated Safety Plan for the Coast) will be illustrated as well as research into the Hinderbanken. To conclude, examples of sand extraction in practice both in Belgium and in the Netherlands will be presented.

The seminar takes place on October 17, 2011 in the Meeting - and Event Centre Staf Versluys in Bredene from 9h until 16h30. Participation fee is 150 euros (students pay 75 euros). The seminar will be held Dutch and French.
