New brochure MUMM

A sea turtle in your nets? A whale on the beach? MUMM's newest leaflet tells you what to do.

MUMM

Frequently, seabirds and small sea mammals wash up on Belgian beaches, often still alive. Although less frequent, this also occurs with wales and every once in a while other protected species, such as sturgeons or sea turtles are spotted in our coastal waters.
Every year, legally protected species end up in fishing nets, and (if already dead) are used for scientific research.
MUMM (Management Unit for the North Sea Mathematical Models) has published guidelines so that when confronted with a beached animal or by-catch you'll know exactly what to do and who to call. Download the guidelines here.
